The Greene County High School football team is one of six Class 2A squads with records of seven wins and no losses. The Rams were ranked sixth in the first RPI (Ratings Percentage Index) released last Monday. The second RPI will be released today by the Iowa High School Athletic Association. The RPI is used to determine the playoff qualifiers who do not win their districts and qualify automatically. The RPI also is used to seed the postseason qualifiers one through 16. There are just two games remaining in the regular season with the playoffs beginning on Friday, Nov. 1 in all six classes of Iowa high school football.

Greene County is tied with OABCIG (Ida Grove) for the District 9 lead. Both are 7-0 overall and 3-0 in district play and District 9 is the only 2A district with more than one unbeaten team. The Rams host 0-7 Red Oak Friday, Oct. 18 at Linduska Field in Jefferson in the final regular season home game. It’s also Senior Night for Greene County. OABCIG hosts Kuemper Catholic (Carroll) (2-5) this Friday. The Rams and Falcons meet in the regular season finale on Oct. 25 in Ida Grove.

All Greene County football games can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. Coverage each week begins at 6 p.m. with kickoff at 7 p.m.
