Kids and adults from around Guthrie County dressed up in Halloween attire and enjoyed free activities and treats at an event held every October.
The Guthrie County Historical Village and Museum hosted “The Haunted Village,” where kids enjoyed a haunted museum, hay rides, fortune telling, games and more. Panora resident and Village volunteer Lora Koch says she enjoys coordinating the photo booth area and seeing all the families have fun together, “Both my daughters are in college now and we’ve been coming here ever since they were little. In fact I was just telling someone tonight that I remember bringing my girls to The Haunted Village when they were two years old, three years old so over 20 years ago coming to this. And I think the Village is just this really rare find in central Iowa and for sure in Guthrie County, with everything they have to offer here that people can come and visit.”
The organizers were also grateful for a sunny and dry evening for the event, as snow forced them to move the festivities entirely indoors last year. Several local groups and businesses helped with the event, including the Panora Chamber of Commerce, Panora Lions Club, Women for Panora’s Future, Little Panther Daycare, and Guthrie County Hospital and Clinics.
