When Greene County entered Friday night’s high school football game in Atlantic, they were facing the leading rusher in Class 2A in Tyler Moen. The senior had 991 rushing yards, 10 touchdowns, and an averaged of 7.6 yards per carry through his first six games.
When all was said and done, the Greene County defense held Moen to just 64 yards on 24 carries en route to a 26-0 victory. Greene County improved to 7-0 overall and 3-0 in District 9, while the Trojans fell to 2-5, 1-2.
Atlantic mustered just 121 yards of total offense against a Rams’ defense that has allowed just two of seven opponents to score against it. Greene County is holding opponents to less than 11 points per game and has recorded three shut outs. The Trojans entered the contest averaging 20 points per contest.
The Rams’ final home game of the regular season is Friday, Oct. 18 at Linduska Field in Jefferson vs. Red Oak (0-7, 0-3). The contest can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com with coverage starting at 6 p.m. and kickoff at 7 p.m.
