This weekend is the popular Fall Festival at Deal’s Orchard near Jefferson.

There are several attractions for the whole family to enjoy. Apple Acres is open from 8am-6pm today and tomorrow. There is a giant jumping pillow, 80-foot slides, hamster wheels, pedal tractors and trucks, water-pump duck races, a corn maze and Co-owner Gerald Deal says they’ve expanded a couple of the attractions and added something new.

“This year we put a tire mountain in. (We) got some tractor tires and put area over by the corn maze where we filled it with sand and make it kind of a little mountain so the kids can play on (it). Another thing then that we expanded (is) our chicken house. We have had just one-half of it be a corn box. This year we extended it the whole way, and the whole chicken house is now a corn box.”

There is an admission fee for Apple Acres, along with face-painting, sand and spin art. Additionally, there will be free hayrides and pony rides. The local Cub Scouts are doing a spook cave fundraiser, along with the Greene County FFA Chapter hosting a petting zoo fundraiser. Proceeds from each will go back to the respective organizations for events and trips.
