One local non-profit organization is doing its part to make sure youngsters have clothing essentials.
RSVP 55+ Volunteer Program of Greene County is putting on the Lots of Socks and More Drive. Items that are needed are socks and underwear for less fortunate kids in the county. These items will be given to New Opportunities of Greene County to be distributed to those families who participated in the Warm Hearts Clothing Drive and the upcoming holiday food baskets. Diapers and pull-ups will also be accepted and given to the Greene County Early Learning Center.
Last year, RSVP collected 1,410 items. Donation boxes are located throughout the county, including: Jefferson, Scranton, Paton, Rippey, Grand Junction, Churdan and the Greene County Medical Center. Monetary donations will also be accepted. Checks can be made payable to “RSVP Lots of Socks” to the RSVP Volunteer Program, P.O. Box 104 in Jefferson. These funds will be used to purchase specific sizes that are needed. The drive ends on October 31st.
The Lots of Socks fundraiser is done in partnership with National Make A Difference Day, which is Saturday, October 26th.
