Class 3A number 13 Nevada was a Heart of Iowa Activities Conference volleyball winner over Greene County on the Cubs’ home court on Thursday in straight sets. Scores were 12-25, 15-25, 13-25. Coach Chris Heisterkamp’s Rams fell to 11-17 overall and finished the conference season at 2-5.
The Coach said her team showed up to play a rated opponent as she thought the girls were focused from the first whistle on. “Our blocking was better and after a shaky start, our passing picked up to allow us to get some nice kills. Our scores look bleak, but they don’t fully show all the good things we demonstrated on the court and it was still fun to celebrate the little victories that happened in spite of taking the overall loss.”
Brianna Osterson led the Rams in kills with five and Bella Schroeder was next with four. Lilly Muir had three kills. Haleigh Weir went seven for seven serving with Aubrey Heupel and Osterson both at six for six. Muir was seven for eight at the service line, while Paige Heaning was six for seven and Katrina Heupel went three for three.
The Rams are off until Oct. 19 at the Winterset tournament
