Kids and adults are invited to dress up and get in the spooky spirit for the Guthrie County Historical Village & Museum’s annual event, The Haunted Village.
Village Curator Kristine Jorgensen says she has a lot of fun hosting this event which has lasted over 15 years, “And we gear it towards the little kids, so it’s like 10 years and younger so it’s not too scary, and we have activities that take place all around the village. So we have a hay ride which is a lot of fun, we have storytelling and coloring and treats, of course. Fortune telling, a haunted museum, which again isn’t too scary for the little ones.”
Jorgensen says The Haunted Village is a collaboration of many Guthrie County businesses and groups, including Little Panther Daycare, Panora Chamber of Commerce, Panora Lions Club, and Women for Panora’s Future. This free event will take place from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the historical village and museum in Panora. Free-will donations are appreciated, which will go towards continued efforts to restore the 1915 Pullman Observation and Cafe Car. Jorgensen mentions that children must be accompanied by an adult, and are encouraged to bring a bag for all their treats.
