A new business in Jefferson brings grooming and style to canines.
Amanda Clouse is the owner of Barking Beauties Dog Spa. The Jefferson native grew up loving animals and wanted to someday have a career with dogs or horses. Clouse groomed dogs for eight years with various animal salons and veterinary clinics. It wasn’t until a couple of years ago, when Clouse was living in Waterloo and undergoing training from PetSmart, that she wanted to start her own dog grooming business.

“I wanted to personalize it to experiences that I’ve had. So I was able to see first-hand how each individual business operated, and I felt some things worked better. I wanted a more personalized relationship with my clients.”
Clouse adds there was only one other business in Jefferson that provides dog grooming and she knows there is still a need for these services for dog owners. Her business is located at 800 East Lincoln Way which has been open since October 1st.. She is licensed through the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship.
