Whether it’s your next treasured possession, or a gift for a coworker or loved one, items to pique anyone’s interest will be up for bid at the Stuart Library Foundation’s annual fundraising auction.
Stuart Library Director Lisa Sherman says this is the Foundation’s biggest annual fundraiser, and all the proceeds go back to the library and the free services they provide to the public, “Every year the greatest portion goes to the purchase of books, paying for programs. Our book collection is growing by leaps and bounds so large print is in great demand so those books cost quite a bit more than your regular print but you need to get the books that people are reading or requesting so that’s an exciting thing and the children’s programming, they’re always supportive for that and the PALS (People Active for Library Service) are bringing a lot of help too with them.”
Items for bid this year include sporting event tickets for Iowa State University, Iowa Wild, and Des Moines Buccaneers, tickets to Blank Park Zoo and Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, as well as gifts from local businesses, homemade pies, jams, and canned goods, and local art. The live auction is open to the public and bidding starts at 6 p.m. tomorrow at the Stuart Public Library.
