October is American Pharmacists Month, and a particular Guthrie County physician wishes to shine the spotlight on what these health professionals do.
Dr. DeeAnn Wedemeyer Oleson is the Director of Pharmacy and Director of Clinical Safety, Quality, and Compliance for Guthrie County Hospital and she says she was drawn to the particular science of pharmacy, and she also considers the work to be very fulfilling, “Pharmacists are always looking out for their patients’ best interests but much of what pharmacists do goes on behind the scenes so to speak. Pharmacists are continually thinking about things like drug interactions and doses and allergies and so the things that pharmacists are thinking about patients don’t really see that. So I think that most people aren’t aware of everything that pharmacists are thinking about to ensure that their prescriptions are safe and appropriate.”
On behalf of Guthrie County Hospital and Clinics, Dr. Oleson expresses her gratitude to all area pharmacists for what they do to care for patients and improve the community overall.
