Jefferson Matters: Main Street is starting a new venture to satisfy the artist inside us.
Art Around the Square will take place Saturday from 10am-4pm. Co-organizer Ginny Showman says about 20 artist booths will be located on the east side of the Greene County Courthouse and on the south plaza stage. Some of the items that will be for sale include photography, jewelry, pottery, along with abstract and oil art pieces. Plus, there will be wine and cider tastings at the Thomas Jefferson Gardens, and free kids crafts.
Showman talks about why they wanted to host this new event.
“Another member of the Tower View Team (with Jefferson Matters: Main Street) and I were talking about that we needed an art fair in Jefferson. We have all this wonderful art: outside art, the rooftop art, art around the courthouse area. And she said, ‘Well let’s do it. Let’s just run with it.’”
Showman adds there’s still time to register to be a vendor. The fee for a vendor is $50 for a 10-by-10-foot booth. Those interested can contact the JMMS office at 386-3585, or Showman at 515-314-4656.
