Friday afternoon, the Perry Chamber of Commerce and members of the community gathered downtown to celebrate the new facility of the Perry Alano Club with a ribbon-cutting.
The Alano Club is a nonprofit organization that supplies a meeting space for Alcoholics and Narcotics Anonymous groups. They’ve been working for more than a year to renovate the buildings located at 1211 and 1213 Lucinda Street, repurposing a chiropractor’s office and beauty salon to fit their purposes. The project was finished recently, and a big crowd came out to celebrate with them and help cut the ceremonial ribbon. Alano Club board members Larry and Pearl Laborde addressed the attendees after cutting the ribbon, explaining their mission and services offered, and offering thanks to those in the community who helped the renovation get off the ground.
After that, those in attendance were able to tour the facility and partake in the free refreshments.
