The West Central Valley School Board met in a special session Thursday.
The meeting began with approval of the agenda, followed by a closed session to evaluate the professional competency of an individual whose appointment, hiring, performance, or discharge is being considered. After the Board came out of the closed session they approved accepting the resignation of Superintendent Lance Ridgely effective at the end of his contract on June 30th, 2020. Ridgely is also granted a leave of absence, and High School Principal Rusty Shockley and Middle School Principal Anthony Lohse will assume the day-to-day responsibilities as acting co-superintendents.
Board Vice President Jill Caltrider read a written statement to the public, “The Board is very grateful for the service provided by Mr. Ridgely to the West Central Valley Community District. Under his leadership, West Central Valley made some significant and transformational changes to our schools and educational programs. Our students will benefit from these efforts for years to come. We wish him well.”
No reason was given to explain Ridgely’s offer of resignation, and he will remain compensated as per his current contract. Ridgely has held the position since July 1, 2018.
