After careful consideration, the Perry School District and Chamber of Commerce have decided that there will be a Homecoming parade after all.
The parade will now be held tonight at 6 p.m., with lineup at 5:30 in the parking lot next to Dewey Field. Additionally, the community cook out meal will be held immediately following the procession at the Raccoon Valley Bank plaza. The events were originally scheduled for yesterday, but due to the weather the parade was initially cancelled and the cook out was postponed to Friday during the game. However, with the Leon Fox Invitational cross country meet scheduled for tonight postponed to next Tuesday and better weather expected, the organizers felt it was an ideal opportunity to keep the parade tradition going.
The route will be from the high school to Willis Avenue, then down to 2nd Street, concluding at Raccoon Valley Bank. There, the bank and Hy-Vee will host the cook out, with pork loins provided by Tyson and ice cream from Frio. All proceeds will go to the junior class prom committee. The Homecoming King and Queen Coronation will also be held tonight, starting at 8 p.m., which you can listen to live on AM 1310, FM 99.7 KDLS.
