Tonight’s Perry Homecoming parade has officially been cancelled due to inclement weather, and the grill out planned for afterwards has been postponed.
Chamber of Commerce Director Lynsi Pasutti told Raccoon Valley Radio that the community meal that was to be held downtown following the parade will instead be offered during Friday’s Homecoming football game. Pasutti says the organizers felt it was important to still have the meal even without the parade, as it will be a great way to bring everyone together to celebrate. “So Raccoon Valley Bank and Hy-Vee are working together to kind of be the hosts for this community cook out. Tyson donated pork loins and Hy-Vee will be grilling them out. Frio will be donating ice cream as well, with proceeds going to the junior class. Again just a time for people to come out and support each other and be a part of all the activity.”
Additionally, Pasutti says any parade floats that were created for tonight can instead be displayed Friday during the game. For more information, contact Matt McDevitt at 515-314-4286. The gates will open prior to the game at 5:30 p.m., with kickoff scheduled for 7. Make sure to catch the live play-by-play for the Perry Homecoming game on AM 1310, FM 99.7 KDLS, with pregame from the field starting at 6:30.
