The 2019 Perry High School Homecoming celebration has officially begun, and tomorrow is one of the favorite days during the week for students and the community alike.
Volunteer Day is held the Wednesday of Homecoming Week every fall, and Perry Student Council Advisor Brenda Mintun says this year’s version will once again have a great deal of participation. “We just have so many students so excited to go out and work in our community, and kind of give back for the community that supports us so much at the school. We’ve got over 300 students that have permission slips in, looking for places to go. And (the) students work so hard, and it’s just such a great day for our community.”
Specific projects that students will be working on during the day include cleaning at the Perry Dog Park, picking up trash along Highway 141, and various jobs at the elder care facilities in town. Mintun says students will also be helping out with various yardwork and painting tasks at residences around the City. She adds, if anyone still has a project in mind for Volunteer Day, they can contact the school at 515-465-3503 and the staff will see if there’s help available.
