Bring your bucket and some shoes that you’re okay with getting wet, as Dallas County Conservation is set to host a Nature Play Day this weekend.
They’re calling it “Rock Day,” and the program will be held Saturday from 10-11:30 a.m. Attendees will meet at the Snyder Tract of the North Raccoon River Wildlife Area, which is located southwest of Minburn on County Road F31 on the west side of the river. They will then search for treasures along the waterfront, including lucky rocks and whistle rocks, skip stones, and be shown how to properly build a cairn, which is a pile of stones with many purposes. The event is intended for children of all ages, and it’s free to attend. However, registration is required so that participants can be notified of any changes, as the program is dependant on the weather and water levels.
