A familiar face will no longer be seen around the fairgrounds in Adel, as Dallas County ISU Extension and Outreach Executive Director Jeff Jackson is moving to a different position within the university.
Jackson has held the post since May 1, 2017, but as of this past Thursday he is now the Assistant Director of Admissions for ISU, and Director of the Early Outreach Programs. He said making the decision to leave Extension was one of the hardest he’s ever had to make, though the promotion was too good an opportunity to pass up. As far as filling the void left by Jackson, there are presently no plans to do so. He told Raccoon Valley Radio that Extension as a whole is going through a redesign, and the current plan is to phase out all county directors by July 1, 2020. Jackson added, it will be a difficult situation for other directors around Iowa, and could cause a lot of chaos down the road, but he also feels the changes are needed.
He expressed his gratitude for everyone at Dallas County Extension for making his time there enjoyable, and the staff in turn thanked him for everything he had done in the last two years and wished him well in his next endeavor.
