The Perry varsity football was the Homecoming opponent for Dallas Center-Grimes Friday night, and the hosts defeated the visiting Bluejays handily by a score of 41-0.

The Mustangs started hot on their first drive, traveling 80 yards in four plays and scoring on the first of two touchdown passes by quarterback Ty Walker. DCG scored another touchdown on their next drive, and headed into the second quarter up 14-0. On Perry’s first drive of the second, an errant pass was picked off by a Mustang defender and returned for a touchdown. DCG’s next offensive drive resulted in the first of two rushing touchdowns by running back Luke Busby, and two plays later they had yet another interception returned for a touchdown. The final score of the game came after Perry fumbled in their own territory, giving the Mustangs a short field to make it 41-0 at halftime.

In the second half, with a running clock in effect, neither team was able to score, though the Bluejays did manage their best offensive drives of the night. They took two possessions into the red zone, but were unable to put up points on either occasion. When the final gun sounded, DCG claimed the 41-0 victory on their Homecoming night. The loss brings Perry’s record to 0-5, with their own Homecoming game coming next Friday against Webster City.
