The Perry Chamber of Commerce will host the next ribbon cutting event of the year, this time to celebrate the official grand opening of the Perry Alano Club’s new facility.

The Alano Club had been working for more than a year to renovate the buildings located at 1211 and 1213 Lucinda Street, turning them into meeting spaces for Alcoholics and Narcotics Anonymous groups. The work was recently completed, and the Chamber is helping show the facility off to the public. Alano Club representative Larry Laborde talks about why they felt it was beneficial to partner with the Chamber. “You know, there’s always been a stigma on mental illness, alcoholism, (and) drug addiction. It’s always an effort to shake the stigma and to get out there in the open in the community, and let people know that alcoholism and drug addiction doesn’t care who you are or what your status is. And we are a member of this community, and we are property owners, and we have business people that are members of our club. And I think that the Chamber is just a wonderful venue and an avenue for us to get our name out and to support them.”

The ribbon cutting and open house will be held Friday, October 4th, starting at 3 p.m. For more information on other upcoming Chamber events, listen to today’s Perry Fareway Let’s Talk Dallas County program on air and at RaccoonValleyRadio.com.
