Don’t forget: property tax payments are due by September 30th, so Dallas County Treasurer Mitch Hambleton advises property owners to take care of that sooner, rather than later.

Hambleton reminds residents who are paying in person that the tax department office has moved downstairs, and is now located in the west wing of the first floor next to the Recorder’s Office. “If you want to come to the courthouse and pay your taxes, you can certainly come into my office on the first floor and pay those. If you just want to drop them off and not go through the metal detector, we do have a tax collection box just inside the front door, externally to the metal detectors. So you don’t have to come all the way in but just drop your payment there.”

Hambleton also points out that property taxes can be paid online or by mail. If paying online, he reminds people there is a service fee that will be assessed to your payment. For mailed payments, only check or money order are accepted, and payments must be postmarked before September 30th. Property owners should have received an envelope with the tax statement sent out last month, and Hambleton recommends they use it.
