art-harvest-tour-2019

This Saturday and Sunday, the 6th annual Art Harvest Tour returns to central Iowa, and the public is invited to stop at 11 different locations to meet with 28 artists.

Jenny Eklund and Mary Rose Nichols with Art on the Prairie are once again helping to organize and host the event, which encompasses six cities and around 90 miles of travel, and they point out that the idea of the tour is to get people into the artists’ creative spaces for a unique experience. Eklund says, “(There’s) nothing better than when you got to an art event to actually see the artist performing and demonstrating. That is what makes this tour so special.” Nichols adds, “And it’s also a chance to really visit with the artists. Not only watch them create, but visit with them and talk to them about the creative process. And it’s just very informal and intimate and lowkey, we just love the feel of it at each location.”

In addition to three locations in Perry, the Art Harvest Tour includes: one stop each in Ames, Woodward, and a new one in Dallas Center; two studios in Boone; and three locations in Ogden, including event founders Pam Dennis and Ryk Weiss. The event is free to take part in, though there will be items for purchase at each stop. It will run from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday.
