Following a successful pie auction that raised about $1,400 at the Best of the Block BBQ Cook-Off, the Stuart Sesquicentennial Planning Group is having their monthly meeting next week.

The public is invited to attend the planning meeting, happening from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 1st at the Stuart Congregational Church. There are several committees residents can join, including vendors, fundraising, public safety, entertainment, and more. Marketing Head Tracy Mahlstadt says their first couple meetings have been productive, “We are branching out and doing different things. There’s a lot of exciting ideas that have been floating around, making it more like a festival and very inclusive, because there’s a lot of us that have been around here for a long time or have gone away and come back. There’s so many young people, young families that are here that we absolutely want to include in the process and would love their ideas.”

The group is also seeking theme ideas for the festival, which will take place June 19-21, 2020. To get involved, contact Cheryl Marks at 515-480-0767 or Lisa Sherman at 515-249-3808.
