Another season wrapped up for the Greene County Farmers Market, as the market also celebrated a milestone.

The local farmers market turned 20-years-old this year and for co-organizer and vendor Alexis Hooper described the changes she’s seen over the course of the last two decades.

“Well it’s really exciting to see how much the market has grown and how much it’s changed. We have a lot of the same long-term vendors that we see like Deal’s Orchard and Lost Grove Produce, but it’s really fun to see the new people come into the market. We’ll see them for a year or two sometimes and then they might go away and then come back. But we build great relationships with everyone in the market.”

Co-organizer and vendor Chris Henning explained her favorite part of the farmers market.

“I love talking to people. I like promoting the vendors, the growers themselves. It’s great fun to see people like the (Kiwanis) Aktion Club people who are out there and learning. All of those kinds of things are just great fun for me.”

The farmers market was on Tuesday evenings from the start of June through September, averaging 10-12 vendors per evening.
