A first-ever fundraiser for the several entities in Scranton proved to be a success.

The Scranton Community Center, the Scranton Fire Department, the H.F. and Maude E. Marchant Memorial Library and the Scranton Parks and Recreation Committee partnered together to host the September 7th fundraiser. Event committee member  Dawn Rudolph says they raised $15,500 in profit. She adds that over 150 people attended the event.

“We’re very pleased. We got the crowd that we were hoping to get. (We) Had great comments from those that were there that they enjoyed the evening. It’s nice to see young families coming out and getting involved in our community and participate. We’re very pleased.”

The proceeds will help with a roof replacement project on the community center, improvements to the City Park, purchasing a first responder truck for the fire department and digitize the Scranton Journal for the library. Rudolph thanks everyone for the support, along with sponsorships and donations.
