The 2019 city and school elections are just six weeks away, and before voters can cast their ballots, they must first know where their polling location is.
Dallas County Auditor Julia Helm says that was made more complicated this year, with the formerly separate elections joining together. “We had some new legislation last year, and that combined the city and school election in 2019. So that created different precincts for our voters. The goal of the legislation was to up voter turnout, and to use the same precinct over and over again. So where we could, we tried to move voters to their regular federal election precinct, so that’s where they vote most of the time. It’s where they voted in 2018 and where they’ll probably vote in 2020.”
Helm says the mailer her office sent out that details the precinct locations for all Dallas County voters was received well, though it did encourage more than the normal amount of absentee ballot requests. She encourages residents to check the County website for a reminder of their polling location prior to the November 5th election. You can find a link to the website below.
