The Panorama football team remains undefeated after a solid performance Friday.
The Panthers hit the road to take on Central Decatur who came in with a 1-3 record. The night started with a power outage that caused a 45-minute delay before kick-off. Once the game got underway, the Panthers started slow and Central Decatur took advantage with a 31-yard touchdown run to take an 8-0 lead. Things started falling into place when the Panther defense added to the scoreboard thanks to a 69-yard pick-six from Evan Taylor.
Panorama used this momentum to build a solid lead in the second quarter as Taylor’s night was not finished. Dominic Walker connected with Taylor for two touchdowns, from 13 and 75 yards out. Walker also added a touchdown on the ground four yards away to take a 24-8 lead into halftime.
Central Decatur was not willing to let Panorama run away with the game. The Cardinals cut the defict to two points in the third quarter with a seven-yard run and a pick-six from 16 yards out. Heading into the final quarter, the Panthers held onto a 24-22 advantage.
Walker and Lucas Leiferman were able to add some insurance as they connected on a 23-yard touchdown pass. Panorama was able to put the game on ice following a 40-yard interception return for a touchdown courtesy of Zach Rizutti. The Panthers were able to collect their fourth win by a score of 37-22.
Panorama opens district play Friday when they hit the road to face undefeated Clarinda.
