The annual St. Patrick’s Catholic School “Light Up the Knight” event was held Saturday evening, though it was unlike any event from the last seven years.
Because of the threat of inclement weather, the event was moved indoors to the Perry Elementary gym and multipurpose room, as opposed to the high school track. In spite of that, organizer Jody Lutterman felt the festivities were a big success. They were able to set up inflatables and games in the gym, had food and photos in the multipurpose room, and a dunk tank outside. Lutterman said Light Up the Knight is the celebration of all the fundraising the students have done over the last several weeks, and depending on how much each student raised they got a proportionate amount of glow items for the laps at the end of the night.
She was pleased that the weather cooperated enough that the attendees were able to walk their laps outside around the playground area, as opposed to doing them indoors, and they were also able to have the lantern release to wrap up the celebration. “I think it went very well! Everybody came, we had quite a good turnout, so I was happy about that. And it stopped raining for our walking the laps, so that’s good. And we did well so I’m happy with it! Thanks to everybody who volunteered, and donated, and helped, and all of those things. We’re just thankful for that, and all the families for coming and having a good time.”
Raccoon Valley Radio’s Big Red Radio was also once again at Light Up the Knight, as we provided a music soundtrack for the festivities as well as public address services.
