The City of Stuart is filled with savory smells and entertainment for the whole family as the Stuart Revitalization Group hosts its inaugural Best of the Block BBQ Cook-Off.
Teams from near and far have gathered on 2nd Street in downtown Stuart, where they will be judged for the best chicken, ribs, pork butt, and brisket this afternoon. Spectators can also take in the local sights as the Stuart Depot, Saints Center for Culture and the Arts, and Stuart Fire Station will all be open for tours. The Stuart Public Library is also hosting free games and face painting for children. There will be a pie auction at 6 p.m. to raise funds for next year’s Stuart Sesquicentennial, followed by the awards presentation, community BBQ dinner, and a live band street dance. All funds raised from the cook-off will be donated to the Stuart Cottage Pantry and Stuart Fire and Rescue.
