Starting this week and running the next four, the Perry High School varsity football games will start half an hour earlier than normal.

Tomorrow’s game at North Polk, as well as the subsequent games at Dallas Center-Grimes, at home against Webster City, and home against Carroll, will each kick off at 7 p.m. At this time, the times for the final two games of the season – at Boone and home against Humboldt – are still scheduled to start at 7:30. One of the reasons given for the new start time is that Perry does not currently have the student participation to field both freshman and junior varsity teams. Typically the 9th graders would play prior to the varsity game on Friday evenings. However, with those athletes combined into the JV roster to field a full team, the Perry Activities Department cancelled all previously scheduled freshman games for the rest of the season. The JV squad plays on Monday evenings.

This will also affect the broadcast schedule for the Raccoon Valley Radio Network. We will start the pregame programming at 6 p.m. the next four weeks, with the live broadcast commencing at 6:30. Listen to all the action each week on AM 1310, FM 99.7 KDLS, online at RaccoonValleyRadio.com, and on our free mobile app.
