The City of Perry is in the market for a new-to-them plow truck to be used at the Perry Municipal Airport, which may be purchased as early as tomorrow.

At their most recent meeting, the City Council discussed the necessity of a new plow truck, as the previous one is a 1994 model, which needs a new transmission and has a bad hookup for the plow blade. City Administrator Sven Peterson says they decided that instead of pouring more money into an aging vehicle, they will instead seek to purchase a used plow from another municipal entity around the state. He adds, their first opportunity to find a replacement will be in Fort Dodge. “Webster County Secondary Roads actually has an equipment auction coming up Thursday, and we know of a couple trucks on that auction. So we’re going to go up there and at least try and see if we can get one of those. Otherwise, we’ll be continuing to just kind of keep our nose to the ground and trying to find a nice plow truck for us to be able to get.”

The amount the City plans to spend on the used plow truck is not to exceed $25,000, and Peterson is confident they will find what they’re looking for well under that price tag. As for the old truck, he says its current state doesn’t lend itself to anything more than selling it for parts once the new vehicle is in hand.
