Linduska Field in Jefferson is the place to be both Friday and Saturday nights this week. Greene County’s Class 2A fifth ranked football team hosts Class 3A Gilbert in non-district football on Friday night on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. The game has been designated as Childhood Cancer Awareness Night and fans are encouraged to “Go Gold & Be Bold” because gold is the color of childhood cancer awareness. ShineOn Designs is selling special “Fight Like a Kid Greene County Rams” t-shirts that fans are encouraged to wear to the game. Proceeds from the t-shirt sales go to children’s cancer research.

In addition, fans are asked to bring Play-Doh to Friday’s football game or drop it off at Home State Bank this week prior to the game. All Play-Doh will be donated to Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines.

Saturday is being billed as “Saturday Football Showdown” at Linduska Field. This “all ages” event is being put on by the Greene County Youth Athletic Association. It features food served from 5-6:30 p.m., a Greene County 5th & 6th grade youth tackle football game from 5:30-7 p.m., door prizes, plus autographs from Ram varsity football players and cheerleaders. Raccoon Valley Radio’s “Big Red Radio” is also scheduled to be on site. Proceeds from the meal go to the Greene County High School football cheer squad, and Greene County youth football.
