Greene County volleyball has the opportunity to climb over the .500 mark on the season when Coach Chris Heisterkamp’s Rams travel to Saydel High School on the northeast side of Des Moines tonight to face the Eagles. The Rams are 8-8 while Saydel is 1-8. Both squads are looking for their first conference win of the season.
The Rams were 2-0 winners over the Eagles just three days ago in Eldora at the South Hardin Invitational. Tonight’s match is a Heart of Iowa Activities Conference battle and will be a best three of five format.
Greene County went 3-2 at South Hardin and serving was a key to success. The coach reported nearly 96% serving accuracy for the entire team at that tournament. More of the same tonight could mean more success.
The next home action in the middle school gym in Jefferson is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 19 when both Gilbert and Carroll visit the Rams.
