The Panorama football team took the field Friday night against Interstate-35, and were determined to finish with a better result than last season’s matchup

Last year the Panthers fell to the Roadrunners 34-13 to earn their first loss of the season. This year, they had different plans. Panorama struck first with a four-yard rush from Luke South. Following a successful two-point conversion attempt, the Panthers led 8-0 after the first quarter. Panorama would add one more touchdown before the half, thanks to a 10-yard run by Dominic Walker.

I-35 responded in the third quarter with a 77-yard run to cut the Panther lead to a touchdown. Things got interesting after another Roadrunner touchdown courtesy of a one-yard rush. Going into the final 12 minutes of play the Panthers were holding on to a 15-13 lead.

Panorama’s defense stood their ground throughout the fourth, not allowing a point. This was the 11th quarter, of 12 played, Panorama’s defense allowed zero points. Panorama held on to win the game and get revenge by a score of 15-13.

Head Coach Mike Kauzlarich attributed the win to the defense. Kauzlarich said “Defensively we made some huge plays to continuously set our offense up with great opportunities to score.”

The Panther’s will look to build on their perfect record Friday when they travel to Central Decatur to face the 1-3 Cardinals.
