Friday, September 13th

10:33am: An officer picked up a Jefferson male on a Greene County Committal Court Order and took him to ER for evaluation by a medical doctor.

11:02am: Nahun Moran reported damage to his vehicle while parked overnight at 302 North Oak Street. Someone entered the unlocked 2003 Ford Explorer and damaged the steering column in attempts to start the vehicle without keys. The officer estimated the damage at $500.00. Items were gathered from the vehicle for fingerprinting.

12:51pm: An employee of Dollar General reported witnessing a possible Violation of a Protective Order at 104 North Locust Street. The officer learned an employee is the Protected Party of an Order of Protection. A male was seen leaving a flower on her vehicle. Officers located the male in the courthouse. James Leon Cunningham, 44 of Jefferson was arrested for, “Violation of a Protective Order – Simple.”

1:08pm: The Greene County Elementary requested an officer at 401 East Russell Street for a 4th grader who was out of control. The officer arrived and assisted school staff with diffusing the issue.

1:53pm: Ryan Patterson spoke with an officer in connection to a Civil Issue at 505 North Grimmell Road.

4:53pm: Dennis Jordan reported several kids riding a golf cart in a Careless Manner in the 200 Block of North Pinet Street. The officer made contact with the juveniles and contacted their parents about the issue.

6:00pm: An officer spoke to a realtor in charge of a vacant house at 913 West Lincoln Way Street about grass clippings being blown into the roadway. The realtor advised he would contact the mowing company and advise them to end this practice.

8:24pm: Jennifer Ashby spoke with an officer about a family member she can not locate. The officer advised her to contact Des Moines PD, since the subject was living there.

8:37pm: Lorrie Gannon reported a Fight in Progress in the parking lot at 777 Wild Rose Lane. The officer arrived and spoke to a male subject. The officer learned there was no physical assault, only a verbal altercation.

9:13pm: An officer removed a bat from the residence at 614 South Olive Street.

9:22pm: Billie Jo Hovak reported a juvenile with a vape pen at the entrance to the football field at 103 Ram Drive. The officer spoke to a male juvenile, who advised an unknown female juvenile had the vaping device and was now gone from the area.

10:46pm: Brenda Malone reported Barking Dogs at 701 North Cedar Street. The officer spoke to the animal’s owner about the issue.

Saturday, September 14th

2:21am: An officer performed a Traffic Stop in the 1700 Block of Westwood Drive after witnessing the vehicle Fail to Obey a Stop Sign. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Christopher Michael Andrew, 22 of Scranton for, “OWI 1st Offense – Serious, Fail to Provide Proof of Financial Liability – Simple, and Fail to Obey Stop Sign – Simple.”

8:38am: Trevor Vanscoy reported the death of his 4-year-old Pit bull dog. The dog had become ill and he rushed it to a Vet in Ames, where the animal died. The Vet suspects the animal may have been poisoned and is conducting tests to determine this. The officer is awaiting the tests results before proceeding further with the investigation.

9:30am: Candy Phipps reported a large amount of mud on the roadway left by farm equipment. The trail of mud started near Maple and Mahlon Streets and went north on North Elm Street. The farmer was contacted and he advised he was heading to town to clean up the mud.

12:30pm: Nicole Borkowski reported a possible “Violation of a Protective Order after receiving text messages from on her cell phone. The officer is investigating.

1:20pm: The Dairy Queen, located at 507 North Elm Street, reported a very rude male customer at the Drive Through Window. The male subject had left the area before the officer’s arrival.

2:14pm: Cindy Rowland reported an Unsupervised Burn occurring at 902 North Pinet Street. The officer located the smoldering tree branch fire, but could not locate the property owner. The heavy rain had extinguished the fire a short time later.

4:59pm: Officers were requested at 304 North Chestnut Street for an Unwanted Male at the door. The male had left the area before the arrival of the officer. The male had been previously told by an officer not to return to the address. Trespass charges are pending at this time.

8:11pm: Matt Carlson reported Barking Dogs for several hours at 1001 Westwood Drive. The officer spoke to animal’s owner about possible solutions to the issue.

9:11pm: Nancy Scheffers reported a Suspicious Vehicle parked in the 1200 Block of Westwood Drive. The officer made contact with the driver, who advised he was waiting for a friend to arrive.

Sunday, September 15th

12:40am: Kay Taylor reported seeing a red light in her neighbor’s yard in the 1500 Block of West Lincoln Way Street. The officer determined it was a light on a grill and all was fine.

7:40am: A Polk City Officer advised of a male with an Active Arrest Warrant, who may be staying in Jefferson. The officer will watch for the subject in town.

8:30am: A Traffic Stop at Oak and Reed Streets resulted in Brian Hardaway of Jefferson being cited for, “Operation without Registration.”

11:13am: An officer responded to an Alarm Activation at the Rec Center. A door had been left unsecured and three juveniles had entered the closed business and used the restroom.

11:45am: Jennifer Ashby reported receiving Unwanted Messages on Face Book. She was advised to block the person from her page.

7:33pm: Nicole Borkowski reported a possible Violation of a Protective Order by Internet. The officer is investigating.

8:17pm: A Traffic Stop at Lincoln Way and Elm Streets resulted in Julie Blaha of Fort Dodge being cited for, “Fail to Obey Stop Sign.”
