Heading into week four, the final week of non-district football for the Greene County Rams, a home date in Jefferson at Linduska Field with Class 3A Gilbert awaits. The Tigers are 2-1 after a 15-8 victory at home over Boone last Friday, while the 2A fifth ranked Rams rolled over Saydel (Des Moines) on Friday by scoring 48 first half points, then lifting the starters and letting reserves play the final two quarters.

Gilbert’s three opponents to start the season have a combined record of 4-5 with Webster City at 2-0, Roland-Story (Story City) 1-2, and Boone 0-3. The Rams three opponents have won two games and lost seven. Nevada is 2-1 while both Perry and Saydel are 0-3.

The Tigers and Rams are familiar with each other, having played in recent seasons, plus both are Heart of Iowa Activities Conference members, so many of the athletes are familiar because of playing other sports. Gilbert has several all-around athletes, as does Greene County. The Tigers could be the most athletic team the Rams have faced so far.

Kickoff on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com is set for 7 p.m. with coverage starting at 6 p.m.
