Stuart residents are asked to get creative and help conceptualize next year’s celebration of the town’s 150th anniversary.

The Stuart Sesquicentennial Festival Committee is holding a theme contest for the event, which will take place June 19th-21st. Marketing Head Tracy Mahlstadt says the theme should reflect the many positive things about Stuart, both past, present, and future. Ideas can be submitted to stuart150th@gmail.com or on the Stuart, Iowa Chamber of Commerce Facebook page. The planning committee has so far held two meetings and they intend to keep the momentum going by distributing “Save the Date” materials at upcoming events, like the Best of the Block BBQ Cook-Off on September 20th-21st.

The next meeting will be from 6-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday October 1st at the Stuart Congregational Church. Those wishing to volunteer or help plan the festival are welcome to attend. Representation of all ages and all skills are desired. To get involved, contact Cheryl Marks at 515-480-0767 or Lisa Sherman at 515-249-3808.
