There’s high school football tonight in Jefferson at Linduska Field. Top 10 ranked Greene County (2-0) hosts 0-2 Saydel (Des Moines) in a non-district contest among Class 2A teams. Coach Caden Duncan’s Rams won a wild 42-41 thriller in Nevada last Friday, and the coach told Raccoon Valley Radio the coaching staff wants to see an improved Greene County team tonight. “We have the mindset that we want to get better this week and the kids have had that mindset since Monday. “We’ve been really trying to work on the fundamentals, out techniques, at practice.”
The coach pointed to a particular area he wants improvement in. “There are a lot of things we can clean up from the first two Friday nights and the biggest thing is probably turnovers. We’ve been really harping on ball security on offense, and also coming up with turnovers on defense. We came up with some turnovers against Perry, but didn’t get any at Nevada.” The Rams were minus four in turnover margin vs. the Cubs and are minus three in that category through two games.
The coach concluded with, “We really want to use this week to become a better ball club.”
Kickoff tonight is at 7 p.m. with coverage at 6 p.m. on KG98 and streaming on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
