The driver of the truck that crashed into the former Guthrie Center Fire Station Tuesday morning has been identified.
According to the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office, 41-year-old James Richard Livingston of Greenfield was driving a Volvo dump truck westbound on State Street at about 9:34 a.m. when, for an unknown reason, he failed to negotiate the curve and struck the building near 1st Street. Livingston was extracted from the truck and transported by Life Flight to Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines for treatment of serious injuries. No one else was injured in the incident and the building was unoccupied at the time. Damages are estimated at $65,000 to the truck and $50,000 to the building. Guthrie Center Fire Department, Panora Fire Department, Panora EMS, Iowa State Patrol, Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office, Adair and Guthrie County Emergency Management, and city and secondary roads crews assisted at the scene.
