Greene County residents will have the opportunity to travel back in time this Saturday with a unique touring group of vehicles.

The National Lincoln Highway Association has organized the “Tour of Cars” with classic and vintage automobiles traveling along the historic road. Lincoln Highway Heritage Byway Coordinator Jan Gammon tells Raccoon Valley Radio the 50-60 vehicle group will be coming from Marshalltown on Saturday and stopping in Grand Junction for lunch. The tour will continue with a brief stop around 1pm in Jefferson at the Greene County Historical Museum. This is held in conjunction with another “museum party” hosted by the historical society from 1-4pm on Saturday. The event is free and open to the public.

Gammon adds that the tour will be following a similar path that the World War I Military Convoy did a couple of weeks ago. The tour left the Zero Milestone on the south lawn of the White House in Washington, D.C. on Friday, August 30th. They are anticipated to be in San Francisco, California by September 16th.
