Greene County showed the ability to both run and pass the football in 2018, and that was the case on opening night when the Rams downed Perry 54-0 in Jefferson at the annual “Cowbell” game. First time head coach Caden Duncan’s Rams totaled 347 yards of offense with 216 on the ground and 131 through the air.

Nevada was primarily a throwing team a season ago. Quarterback Kody Kruschwitz returns after throwing for over 2,300 yards last season when the Cubs went 3-6, including a 38-10 loss to the Rams in Jefferson. On opening night, the Cubs won 26-15 in Alleman vs. North Polk and ran the ball for 301 yards, plus another 39 in the air. Kruschwitz led in rushing attempts with 22 for 132 yards and one touchdown, while Caden Jones had 141 rushing yards on 18 carries, two of those resulting in touchdowns.

The Greene County defense allowed just 35 total yards to Perry, so something has to give. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. with coverage at 6 p.m. on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
