The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday.
The meeting began with an office update from County Attorney Brenna Bird. The Board asked her questions about the rate of recidivism for the county’s criminals, and how the County keeps up with offender’s payments. Next, the Board approved the assignment of county held tax sale certificates for three parcels at Diamondhead Lake. County Treasurer Marci Schreck said the buyer, Shane Smith, is willing to pay the $5,488 due in taxes. The Board also approved abating delinquent property taxes for two properties in Guthrie Center. The City declined to pay the $220 owed for 1307 North Street and $212 owed for 103 Grand Street.
Finally, the Board discussed the referendum communication plan for the law enforcement center addition that will have a special election in March. Project manager The Samuels Group submitted the plan, for which the full marketing package is estimated between about $21,000-$25,000. They also mentioned that cost does not include an estimated $25,000-$30,000 for printed material costs, postage/mailing costs, printed/digital/radio advertising and Facebook promotion. The Board directed Deputy Auditor Dani Fink to schedule Sid Samuels to attend a future meeting to clarify project and bond figures.
