The AC/GC volleyball team had a tall task in front of them hosting a quad Tuesday in Guthrie Center.

The Chargers entered the day with a 2-0 record following a three-set sweep of West Central Valley and a five-set come back victory over Van Meter last week. AC/GC opened it’s doors to Atlantic, CAM, and East Union who came in with a combined 6-3 record.

Their evening did not get off to a good start falling to Atlantic 21-13, their worst set loss so far. With multiple matches in the night, the matches were a best of three. So one set in the books, the Chargers were on the verge of their first defeat of the young season. AC/GC stood their ground in set two winning 21-18. That victory sparked AC/GC as they took set three 15-8 to complete the comeback victory.

Atlantic was their biggest sweat of the night. AC/GC went on to defeat CAM 21-12 and 21-11. The Chargers were able to complete the quad sweep with 21-13 and 21-14 victories over East Union.

AC/GC has been lead early by Sophomore Chloe Largent who entered Tuesday fourth in Class 2A with 57 kills. Even more impressively, Largent has reached 57 kills in only eight sets, which is less than half of the leading killer in Class 2A. The Chargers are sitting at 5-0 for the first time since Quikstats went online in 2007.

The Chargers will try to build on their hot start next Tuesday as they take the court against Woodward-Granger, who is 3-5 after Tuesday.
