The Scranton community is hosting a major fundraiser event for several local causes.

The event will take place Saturday at the community center gymnasium. It starts with a meal being served at 6pm. The Greene County Cattlemen’s Association and the Greene County Pork and Lamb Producers will be grilling several entrees, and side dishes will be provided by Lidderdale Country Store. There will also be several homemade desserts.

Following the meal will be a live auction at 7pm. Some of the live auction items include half a hog with processing included, Iowa State University tickets, bags of seeds, homemade pies and several other items. The event wraps up with live musical entertainment from 8:30-11pm. The group, Studio 728, will perform a variety of music including country, 60’s rock, and fiddle tunes, among others.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for kids 6-12-years-old and those five and under are free. Tickets can be purchased at the H.F. and Maude E. Marchant Memorial Library, Scranton City Hall and Peoples Bank in Scranton. All proceeds will benefit the community center, fire department, the library and the parks and recreation committee.
