After a year of preparation, from 4-H and FFA animal and static exhibits to fundraising and constructing new buildings, the 2019 Guthrie County Fair is now completed, with much to look fondly back on this weekend as well as toward the future.
This year’s fair provided many free attractions, including free grandstand shows and carnival rides for attendees. That plus the mild weather received made for a large attendance. Fair queen contest organizer Christina Wilson commented on the incredible packed grandstand as the 2020 fair queen Rylee Sloss was crowned Sunday night. The 2019 Guthrie County Fair Queen Taylor Lemke gave advice to the queen contestants and the other fairgoers that evening, “Be purposeful in everything you do. You only get so much time in this world so be intentional, make a difference, make someone smile, and always remember this little piece of heaven that we call home. Thank you all so much.”
The 2019 Guthrie County Fair will be remembered for the new facilities that were opened, the Ronald L. Eike Exhibit Building, also known as the Art and Ag Hall, and the Lions Club Food Stand and American Legion Bingo Stand, as well as the remodeled shower/restroom buildings. Raccoon Valley Radio broadcast live each day at the fair from the Big Red Radio. For show results and other information, visit the Guthrie County Fair page.
