The fundraising is nearly complete for the Kinnick to Raccoon trail improvements, and the Adel Partners Chamber of Commerce invites the public to celebrate the start of the project with a groundbreaking ceremony.
The event will take place this Friday at 3:45 p.m. at the Pedal Plaza trailhead at the intersection of Highway 169 and the Raccoon River Valley Trail in Adel. Chamber Board Vice President Rebecca Hillmer describes the improvements planned for the trail. “It’s a multiphase project. We will be doing landscaping along four blocks of the Raccoon River Valley Trail, along the area from Nile Kinnick Drive back east to the Raccoon River. We’ll also be lighting the bridge that goes over the Raccoon River. Unlike some of the other bridges, like the High Trestle Trail, it won’t be neon tubes. We’ll be using individual LED heads and lighting. Then we’ll also be putting one of the art pole projects up along Highway 169.”
In addition to the groundbreaking, the Chamber also invites the public to help out with the project this month, as they will be doing planting each week. All ages are welcome to participate, but sign-ups are recommended. For more information or to register, click the link below.
