The Greene County Historical Society invites everyone to their September program.
The focus will be on the enhancements of the Greene County historical markers. There are 21 markers throughout the county, each with plaques on them depicting what the location means. The markers were originally installed in 1976, through a major benefactor of the late James H. Andrew. The new enhancements are markers that are tall and visible so that motorists can easily recognize where the historical markers are available. The Greene County Secondary Roads Department has helped with the project.
The free program will be held on Friday at 1pm at St. Patrick Catholic Church, located about five-miles west of Churdan. A lunch will be served at noon. Cost of the meal is $8 for historical society members and $10 for non-members. The deadline to reserve a meal is tomorrow. Members can reserve their meals through their community contacts, while non-members must contact Margaret Hamilton at 515-386-4408.
