First year head coach Caden Duncan was confident his team could score points entering the 2019 season. He may not have realized how many different ways the Rams could put points on the board. In Friday’s “Battle for the Cowbell” 54-0 victory at Linduska Field in Jefferson over Perry, the Rams scored touchdowns five different ways.

Quarterback Brent Riley connected with receiver Carter Morton on touchdown passes of 12 and 32 yards. Riley ran 13 yards for a TD with running back Colby Kafer adding 12 and 52 yard scoring jaunts. Morton scored on a punt return of 70 yards. Joe Patterson had a five yard return of a Perry fumble for a touchdown, and Nick Breon intercepted a pass and took it 20 yards into the end zone. That’s eight touchdowns scored five different ways.

The Rams hope that trend continues on Sept. 6 when they go on the road for the first time this season. Coach Duncan’s team will be at Nevada for a 7 p.m. kickoff vs. the Cubs. Nevada began the season with a 26-15 road win in Alleman vs. North Polk. Friday’s game can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
