The Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs traveled to Pella on Friday night for their season opening match-up on the gridiron with the Little Dutch.
Last season, DC-G opened the season at home versus Pella, falling 28-0. This go around was much closer.
The Mustangs were, again, kept scoreless but the defense was exceptionally better. Pella outlasted Dallas Center-Grimes, 14-0. Both of Pella’s touchdowns were tacked on in first two quarters of play, and the halftime score was the same after four periods.
Although the game didn’t result in a win, the game’s final score and the exceptional defense Scott Heitland’s team played on Friday has to be a welcome sign.
Quarterback, Ty Walker, was 12 for 18 on passing for the night with 113 yards, respectively. The Mustangs leading rusher was Junior, Zach Brand, with 107 yards on the ground.
Listen to Monday night’s Dallas County PM Sports Page for reaction from DC-G Head Coach, Scott Heitland. The Dallas County PM Sports Page airs on Monday from 6:00-7:00pm on 99.7FM and AM1310 KDLS.
DC-G travels to Norwalk next Friday night for Week 2.
