David Williamson performing at Bell Tower Festival
The public is invited to a free concert on Sunday in Greene County.
2018 Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees, The Bushmen from Jefferson, will perform at the Spring Lake Park Skating Rink from 8-10pm. The band won’t be the original four-members, but it will include David Williamson on guitar and Bruce Bannister on bass. The other musician will be Hank Muzney, Jr. on drums. Bannister plays guitar too, but he says he made the switch to playing bass for the upcoming concert.
“The guitar has six-strings, the bass’ got four-strings and the strings (on the bass) are about five times as fat. I had to get used to playing it again, but after a couple of weeks it is really not a problem. It’s easier to play than the guitar.”
Williamson says the three-member band has been working cohesively together.
“In working with Bruce, and having been somebody who’s been writing a lot of music, I create the tunes, with his (Bannister’s) background, he turns those into music. Then we pick up a drummer like Hank Muzney and that makes it a band. So Hank’s kind of like the glue.”
Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair to the concert, where Williamson says, “There’s lots of old favorites, new music and always a rockin’ good time.”
